  • PSC Metis MB35 Series

    PSC Metis MB35 Series

The Metis MB35 is a stand-alone pyrometer which measures low temperatures for metal, ceramic, and composite surfaces. Temperature ranges from 35 to 1000°C.

The Metis MB35 is a accurate, reliable stand-alone pyrometer commonly used to measure the temperature of metal surfaces.

Pyrometer Metis MB35 utilizes lead selenide detectors with filtered spectral response at relative short infrared wavelengths, and is therefore often used to measure metal surfaces above 50°C. The emissivity of these surfaces decreases with an increased wavelength, so they offer much better performance than other pyrometers with similar low zero scale temperatures, but with longer wavelength response.

The MB pyrometer uses a fixed focus lenses.  Fixed focusing gives you control of the cone of vision and offers the possibility to measure either a small spot (focused) or the average of a bigger spot (out of focus). Fixed focus lenses with larger diameter collect more infrared energy and therefore result in smaller spot sizes.

The lenses are made of calcium fluoride CaF2  which are highly transparent in their spectral regions. If additional windows are necessary, they must offer similar optical characteristics.

The Metis MB35 is offered with a variety of capabilities and features for maximum application flexibility.  Please see the Specifications tab above for a summary.

PSC-IR-USB series are loop-powered two-wire sensors with fixed focus optics, 4-20mA output and USB to PC cable connection. Using the PSC Congfig software and supplied USB cable, operational settings can be adjusted from the PC. Temperature ranges from -40°C to 2000°C with a response time of 200ms. Offered in two different models, one is designed for low-reflection, dull surface materials, and the other built for high reflection surfaces.

USB Configurable Infrared Temperature Sensors with 2-Wire, 4-20 mA Output

The PSC-IR-USB Series measures temperatures from -40°C to 2000°C with a response time of 200 ms. 2-wired, loop-powered with a short wavelength of 2.2 um. Can see through glass, quartz, or sapphire windows. Effective for reflective metals. The 4 to 20mA output is compatible with most temperature indicators, controllers, recorders, or data loggers without the need for special interfacing or signal conditioning. Comes with PSCConfig software, a simple, touch-friendly software compatible with versions of Windows from Vista onward.

All PSC-IR-USB Series sensors are fully configurable from a PC, using the PSC Congfig software with supplied USB cable. This user-friendly software enables the user to set the temperature range and emissivity, compensate for reflected energy, apply filtering, select max, min, average, or instantaneous readings, and configure peak or valley hold processing. Other features include data acquisition, alarms and a scrolling graphical display. The IR sensor can operate with either the 4 to 20 mA cable connected, the USB cable connected, or both. The USB cable has an IP65 connector at the sensor end. An IP65 cap protects the sensor when the USB cable is not connected.

PSC-IR-USB models (8-14 um) can measure temperature from -40°C to1000°C. They are suitable for measuring high-emissivity materials such as paper, thick plastics, food, rubber, pharmaceuticals, asphalt, and painted surfaces.

PSC-IR-USB 2.2 models (2.2 um) offers temperature ranges from 45°C to 2000°C. This short wave sensor series provides more accurate readings than general purpose sensors when measuring reflective surfaces such as metals. They are also capable of measuring temperatures through glass, quartz, or sapphire windows.
