The PIT-25 Charpy-Izod Pendulum Impact Tester performs axial impact resistance tests on rigid plastics, composites and ceramics, covering 0-25 Joules to ASTM D6110/D256 and ISO 179/180. Its digital touchscreen self-adjusts for the hammer used and compensates for friction losses automatically.
The PIT-25 is an axial impact resistance test instrument for standardised specimens of rigid plastics, composites, ceramics and similar materials, covering a range of 0.5 to 25 Joules according to the Charpy and Izod methods. The equipment consists of a robust tabletop frame with a polycarbonate cabin protecting the loading and unloading operations.
Charpy and Izod methods differ in specimen support: Charpy supports the specimen on both ends, while Izod holds it on one side only. Because these methods differ significantly, results cannot be extrapolated from one to the other.
Used to study impact resistance of plastic materials for the automotive, railroad, aeronautics, medical, prosthesis, toy and computer sectors, determining the energy released when a standardised specimen fractures under a calibrated hammer impact.
