The CSF-20 Canadian Freeness Tester determines the degree of refining and drainage speed of paper fibres by the Canadian °CSF method, per TAPPI T227 and ISO 5267/2. Manual, robust and easy to operate, it measures how well a diluted pulp suspension dewaters.
Manual equipment for determining the degree of refining and the speed of drainage of paper fibres by the Canadian °CSF method. The values obtained (°CSF or ml) measure how effectively a pulp suspension performs dewatering — a useful index of the work done on the fibre during beating or refining.
Based on the TAPPI T227 and ISO 5267/2 standards, 3 dry grams of paper pulp are diluted in water and poured into the drain container. The upper lid closes, the lower lid opens, and the suspension flows onto the calibrated sieve plate for measurement.
Essential for pulp mills and paper manufacturers assessing the degree of refining in the pulping process, providing a standard measure of drainage rate that indicates fibre treatment level.
