The SCT SCM-1 Short Span Compression Tester measures compressive strength of paper and cardboard samples by the SCT method (0.7mm short-span compression), delivering higher accuracy than traditional RCT, Concora Linear or CCT methods. Touch screen display with 0.02N resolution covers a 0-300N measuring range.
Equipment used to measure the compressive strength of paper and cardboard samples by the SCT method. The SCT compression test is performed using a 15mm wide paper or cardboard specimen, compressed at a 0.7mm short distance between jaws until failure occurs.
The compressive strength of a material can be determined by the SCT method to a much higher degree of accuracy than more traditional methods such as the Ring Crush Test (RCT), Concora Linear Test/Linear Crush Test (LCT), and Concora Corrugated Crush Test (CCT). International standards specify this method for determining compressive strength in both the machine direction of the fibres (MD) and the transverse direction (CD).
Used for determining box stacking capacity via packaging paper and corrugated board compression testing. Suitable for packaging paper (liner and fluting), corrugated board, board boxes and board packaging. Meets AS/NZ 1301.4SO RP, BS 7325, DIN 54518, ISO 9895, SCAN P46 and TAPPI T826.
