PSC MCT790

Washdown In-Line NIR Sensor with Colour Measurement

The MCT790 is KPM Analytics’ latest in-line NIR sensor for food processing, delivering continuous measurement of moisture, fat/oil, product temperature and now product colour. With a washdown-ready IP69K stainless steel housing and measurement speeds up to 100 readings per second, it’s built for hot, greasy and wet production environments.

The Latest Generation In-Line NIR Sensor for Food Processing

The MCT790 is KPM Analytics’ newest in-line NIR (near infrared) sensor, providing continuous, non-contact measurement of moisture, fat/oil, product temperature and — new to this generation — product colour. Installed over conveyors, augers and chutes, it’s designed for demanding food processing lines including baked and fried snacks, doughs, crackers, breakfast cereals and food ingredients.

Key Benefits

  • Continuous, real-time data supports manual or automatic adjustment of production equipment such as ovens and sprayers.
  • Helps processors hit “zero-defect” quality targets by measuring more parameters, more often, at critical stages of production.
  • Reduces costly waste and improves productivity through rapid response to production issues.

Built for Washdown Environments

The MCT790 is suitable for challenging production line locations including hot, greasy and wet environments. Its stainless-steel IP69K-rated housing can be washed down using the harsh cleaning solutions typical of food production, with an internal fan providing thermal management inside the sensor. The rugged display, typically mounted beside the line, carries an IP67 rating.

Features

  • High-speed measurement up to 100 readings per second — fast enough to analyse segmented products like cookies and crackers.
  • Simple to operate, integrate and standardise across multiple lines, in keeping with prior MCT Series models.
  • Proprietary temperature-controlled detector ensures measurement stability.
  • Fully modular, with all components easily replaceable in the field.
  • Easy troubleshooting with advanced on-board diagnostics.
  • Can be integrated with a traversing frame to scan an entire belt width, with a move-and-park feature for analysing individual product lanes — especially useful for ovens with multiple heating zones.

Software

Like prior MCT Series models, the MCT790 is designed to integrate with KPM’s SensorVu Windows-based PC software for set-up, calibration, product code selection, diagnostics and remote trend monitoring.
