The WAT Automatic Water Absorption Tester determines tissue paper’s water absorption time and capacity per ISO 12625-8, using the basket-immersion method with fully automatic touchscreen operation. It measures how effectively hygiene and household tissue products absorb water for real-world performance.
Tissue paper is a material with very specific physical properties that make it ideal for use in hygiene and household products. Among these properties, water absorption capacity stands out as one of the most critical, as it determines the paper’s effectiveness in real-life usage.
To measure this property in a standardised way, the international standard ISO 12625-8 defines the basket-immersion test method, determining two key parameters: water absorption time (in seconds) — how long it takes for the paper to become completely wetted — and water absorption capacity (g/g), the amount of water absorbed per gram of sample.
To help customers carry out this measurement with accuracy, repeatability and automation, the WAT model was developed, specifically designed to comply with ISO 12625-8 requirements.
Essential for tissue paper manufacturers needing repeatable, accurate water absorption testing to ensure products perform effectively in hygiene and household applications.
